SEO for corporate development teams

You close deals. The acquired site's traffic doesn't transfer with the signature; it transfers with the URLs and content that earned it. I plan that part.

What I understand about Corporate Development that generalists don't

Integration is where value leaks.

Wildcard redirects, retired equity-bearing URLs and overlapping content cannibalizing the parent site don't show up in the purchase agreement. They show up in the traffic report.

I've been accountable after the close.

At LifeStance I lived with the plans I wrote. Some brands merged straight into the parent domain, others ran under their own names first, then consolidated in stages.

I govern the work and leave your team in charge.

Your agency or in-house team does the build. I set the plan, review the redirect map, run QA before launch and hold the standard through monitoring.

At LifeStance Health I built post-close SEO plans for 20+ regional mental health brands and consolidated them into the parent domain ahead of the company's IPO.

Questions Corporate Development teams ask

What happens to organic traffic after an acquisition?

Traffic doesn't transfer with the deal. It transfers with the URLs, content and signals that earned it. Whether it holds comes down to where each equity-bearing URL redirects, how overlapping content is resolved, whether the platform supports the new structure and whether the timeline leaves room to fix what breaks.

When should SEO get involved?

Before close if you can. Diligence becomes the first stage of the migration. I also start at close or in the first 100 days.

Should we merge the acquired site into our domain or keep it separate?

It depends on brand equity, content overlap and platform fit. I recommend a model and show the reasoning. Retiring a regional name too early can leave branded demand with nowhere to land.

Do you replace our agency?

No. Your agency or in-house team keeps the build. I set the plan, review the redirect map, run QA before launch and hold the standard through monitoring.

We have a fixed launch date. Can you work with it?

Yes, and I'll tell you early if the redirect map won't be ready. When the date is fixed and the map isn't finished, the date wins and the dip lands in a quarter someone is watching.

Closing a deal soon?

Tell me the timeline and the integration model you're considering.
